Yesterday, publications appeared online stating that Senegalese midfielder Samba Diallo of Kyiv's Dynamo, who is currently on loan at the Israeli club Hapoel from Jerusalem, had decided to take Guinean citizenship in order to play for the national team of that country. However, almost immediately the 22-year-old footballer denied this information.
“I read this just like you did. But I assure you, I will remain a player for the Senegal national team. I was born Senegalese and I feel Senegalese. This nation has given me everything, and I must give everything back to it. So for me, there is only one option—the Senegal national team,” wrote Diallo on his Instagram page.
It should be added that Samba Diallo has not yet been called up to the Senegal national team—his experience consists only of playing for the youth and U-21 national teams of this country.
