Former player of the national team of Ukraine Volodymyr Mykytyn shared his expectations regarding the preparation of domestic football giants — "Shakhtar" and "Dynamo" — for the concluding matches of the group stage of the European cups:
Vladimir Mikitin— To be frank, I was convinced that the "miners" and "Dynamo" would be more active in the transfer market. There were hopes that even before departing for the training camp in Turkey, they would sign a few experienced players, rather than reviewing youth. Perhaps, they are not rushing things in the recruitment work because they already have nothing at stake in the European cups? This is a question for the club managers.
In my opinion, the fact that our giants often disappoint on all "fronts" affects the performance of the national team. Because when the leaders of "Shakhtar" and "Dynamo" arrive at the main team’s camp, they lack confidence in their abilities, and this impacts the result. Thus, the stronger the domestic clubs are, the better the national team will perform. That is why efforts should be made not only to ensure our youth progresses, but also to invite players from other countries’ national teams to perform in Ukraine. This will only raise the level of the UPL championship.
As for the sparring partners of "Shakhtar" and "Dynamo" at the training camp in Turkey, I do not think they were selected according to the style of their future opponents in the European cups at the end of January. At this stage, the main thing is to lay a solid foundation of general physical training.
