Tsiganov went from being one of the key players of Girona last season to not being able to play at all for nearly three months.
Girona has indeed faced serious problems with Tsiganov: since the beginning of October, the Ukrainian has only been able to play two official matches for the Catalan club. Due to various injuries, the midfielder has played only 30 minutes against Espanyol in La Liga and 73 minutes against Sturm in the Champions League in the last three months of the season.
The lack of Tsiganov's regular presence on the field has had consequences for Girona. The Catalan club is currently practically knocked out of the main stage of the Champions League, has already been eliminated from the Copa del Rey after losing to modest Logroñés, and sits in eighth place in La Liga with 25 points, which is significantly worse than last season when Girona consistently ranked in the top four.
By the way, Tsiganov has played only 663 minutes this season, participating in 10 official matches, where he scored one goal and provided one assist. These figures bear no comparison with the 8 goals and 7 assists he scored last season, which helped Girona solidify its place atop the Spanish league table. These are the statistics and contributions that the Catalan club lacks to achieve better sporting results,” the publication wrote.
It should be noted that in recent days Tsiganov has returned to training with the main squad of Girona. He is expected to participate in Girona’s first official match of 2025 — this Saturday, January 11, against Alavés in the 19th round of the Spanish championship.
