The head coach of the German “Magdeburg,” Christian Titz, commented on his team’s victory over Kyiv’s “Dynamo” (3:1) in yesterday’s friendly match.
“In this match, we faced a team that was really good. The result we achieved and the performance we showed against such an opponent are therefore all the more valuable. Our team was very focused, very aggressive, and fully prepared for this game. The team spirit was also at a high level, which was particularly evident in the second half when we often had to play against the ball.
In the first half, we completely dominated, applying high pressure and delivering the ball well into the depths of “Dynamo’s” defense. So we fully deserved to be ahead at halftime with a score of 2:0.
We understood that in the second half the game would certainly change. And it did, so we aimed primarily to control the situation on the field. Yes, the opponent reorganized after the break and played differently, but even under these conditions, we had two or three good counteractions. However, overall, we must admit that in the second half, “Dynamo” played in a way that required us to give our maximum.
The only thing that became irritating for me was the two penalties awarded against us. I believe that in both cases, these were at least controversial decisions by the referee. But it’s nice that in both the first and second cases our Dominik (Dominik Reimann, — the goalkeeper of “Magdeburg,” — ed.) performed very well,” Titz said on air after the match with “Dynamo.”
