The last time the Ukrainian coach led a club to victory in the Ukrainian championship was in the 2015/2016 season.
At that time, it was done by Dynamo under the leadership of Serhii Rebrov. Since the foundation of the UPL, domestic coaches have won the championship 15 times out of 32 possible, which is 46.9%.
Under the guidance of Oleksandr Shovkovskyi, Dynamo currently leads the standings after 17 rounds. The club has a 5-point lead over Oleksandriia and is ahead of Shakhtar by 10 points. This situation opens up the chance for Shovkovskyi to become the first Ukrainian coach in nearly a decade to win the Premier League.
For comparison, in the top 5 European leagues, the share of victories by local coaches is significantly higher:
Serie A — 90%
Bundesliga — 75%
Ligue 1 — 72%
La Liga — 44%
English Premier League — 0%
