This week, the internship of Ukrainian coaches in one of the world’s most successful clubs, Manchester City, has started. This became possible thanks to the cooperation between the Ukrainian Football Association and the English club, which was officially confirmed in the summer.
As part of the internship program, 20 Ukrainian coaches have spent several days undergoing theoretical and practical training at the Manchester City training base, where the club's first team trains.
This week, the selected coaches will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the modern football philosophy of Manchester City, learn about the training methodologies of the club's academy, and also visit the training facilities of both the youth teams and the main squad.
The internship program was opened to selection among Ukrainian coaches. Anyone interested could submit an application. Candidates were selected based on the following criteria: possessing a UEFA coaching license C, B, or A, experience working with youth teams, and the ability to implement innovations in the training process in Ukraine.
The memorandum of cooperation between the UAF and Manchester City not only creates opportunities for the internship but also envisages further mentorship for Ukrainian coaches. This initiative aims to implement the best global practices in Ukrainian youth football.
“We strive for Ukrainian coaches to gain knowledge from the best in the world. This internship is an important step in preparing specialists who can develop our young footballers and help them reach international levels,” noted UAF President Andriy Shevchenko.
This program is part of a large-scale strategy by the UAF aimed at developing young footballers through modern methodologies. Thanks to this cooperation, Ukrainian coaches will become catalysts for progress that will elevate domestic football to a new level.
