Famous coach and now expert Oleg Fedorchuk shared his thoughts on the recent European Cup matches of Kyiv’s Dynamo and Donetsk’s Shakhtar (“Galatasaray” — “Dynamo” — 3:3, “Shakhtar” — “Brest” — 2:0), and also evaluated the transfer activity of these clubs this winter.

“It became evident that logistics problems did not press on Dynamo and Shakhtar. Although the preparation had to be expedited, our giants did not change their dislocation.
I liked how Shakhtar played in the first half against Brest in the Champions League, and how Dynamo performed at the end of the match against Galatasaray in the Europa League. This week we will find out if Ukrainian clubs have jumped higher than their heads, or if their opponents simply overestimated their capabilities. Unfortunately, in the current campaign on the international stage, the miners and the dynamos have disappointed significantly more often. And there were indeed gaps in their preparation.
I was also unpleasantly surprised by the actions of our giants in the transfer market. The Kyiv team has completely refused to sign newcomers, which indicates a low efficiency of their scouts. And considering that Dinamo might lose Bущан and Попов, they may face problems with the goalkeeper and stopper positions. Moreover, there are simply no substitutes for several of Kyiv’s leaders. What if the same Buialskyi or Vanat cannot avoid injuries or suspensions?
Shakhtar is also acting strangely, as unlike Dinamo, they need to rectify their standing in the UPL championship. “Miners” are selling their most stable forward — Sikan, and it is possible that another attacking player — Zubkov — might leave the champions as well. There is limited choice for the Donetsk side in these positions. And, whatever mischief the giants are up to, Alexandriya might benefit from it, led by Ruslan Rotan who is not only noted for creativity in training but also effectively works on reinforcing the squad,” — said Fedorchuk.
