The former coach of the German national team, Joachim Löw, recalled how he persuaded Bayern midfielder Jamal Musiala to play for the national team. The Munich star has been wearing the Germany national team jersey since early 2021, rather than the England national team.
“It was in Munich. We had spoken a few times before, and before the 2021 European Championship, Oliver Bierhoff and I met with him. It was the first time in my coaching career that I actually promised a player before the tournament started that he would be there.
We knew he could be incredibly important for our country’s team. So we had to keep him,” Löw is quoted by Kicker.
It should be noted that Musiala represented both England and Germany at the youth level.
