As already reported, the main referee for the match of the final, 8th round of the main stage of the Europa League between Kyiv’s «Dynamo» and Latvian RFSH, which will take place next Thursday, January 30, in Hamburg, has been appointed to Orël Grinfeld from Israel.
This 43-year-old referee has been officiating international matches since 2012 and will not be officiating «Dynamo» for the first time: under Grinfeld’s supervision, the «white-blues» defeated the Dutch AZ (2:0) in Kyiv during the 2020/21 Champions League qualification.
Grinfeld has officiated matches of other Ukrainian clubs as well and has refereed the national team of Ukraine twice. In the current season, on November 6, 2024, the Israeli worked at the main stage match of the Champions League «Shakhtar» — «Young Boys» (2:1).
Moreover, we note that Grinfeld's first international appointment came during the Euro-2013 (U-21) qualification match between Ukraine and Malta (5:1).
In total, with the participation of Ukrainian teams, Grinfeld has officiated 8 matches. In them, representatives of Ukraine won 4 times, lost 3 times, and one match ended in a draw.
However, he has not yet officiated any matches with the participation of Latvian teams.
