A joint meeting of the UAF leadership and the UAF Referees Committee was held at the House of Football with representatives of the clubs of the Ukrainian Premier League, during which the principles and specifics of the committee's work, the features of the VAR system during UPL championship matches, and feedback between UPL clubs and the committee were discussed.

The longest communication occurred between representatives of UPL clubs and the head of the UAF Referees Committee Kateryna Monzul, who presented the statistics of the referees’ work and VAR systems in Ukrainian championship matches, answered a large number of questions and heard several proposals.

The dialogue, in which UPL President Yevhen Dykij and UAF General Secretary Ihor Hryshchenko actively participated, was productive and maximally informative, useful for further improving the quality of refereeing and the technical conditions of the VAR system's operation.

Moreover, UPL club representatives listened to the speeches of the head of the UAF Ethics and Fair Play Committee Andriy Davidenko and the head of the UAF Dispute Resolution Chamber Oleksandr Volkov.

After the meeting, participants shared their impressions with the UAF press service.

Andrii Rusol (director of FC “Karpaty”): “The overall impression is positive. The main conclusion is this dialogue, a certain discussion between the clubs and the referees committee. This is how it should be. The fact that this dialogue exists is very encouraging.

Personally for me, there is a feeling of change. Refereeing is improving. I see it with my own eyes, and the statistics confirm what is happening in our football.”

Volodymyr Baienko (general director of FC “Kryvbas”): “There were a lot of interesting dialogues, interesting ideas. We almost covered everything, but there are still questions that we will continue to work on. The most important thing is that we communicate, we are being listened to. A lot of the things we proposed are being implemented. We need to keep up the same pace, in the same dialogue, not stop and develop our Ukrainian football.

I don’t really remember such meetings with the referees committee. They showed us the statistics—we see improvements. It is related both to the work of the referees and to the increase in VAR systems that operate during matches. We are moving in the right direction.”

Volodymyr Zahurskyi (general director of FC “Polissia”): “Any meeting is productive, where questions are openly discussed and there is an effort to get answers from opponents. Gradually, some questions are removed, while others, on the contrary, acquire new meanings. Our opinion is that the UAF Referees Committee should be as transparent and media-friendly as possible.

It is clear that the Ethics and Fair Play Committee is one of the main committees that ensures a fair result on the football field. Therefore, what is being introduced, including polygraph examinations and notifications from entities about violations in the process or afterwards, and the penalties faced by the respective individuals, gives an impulse to other entities that this is not the way to act.”

Ihor Hryshchenko (general secretary of UAF): “First of all, I want to thank the clubs for finding the time to participate in the working meeting of UAF and UPL. We hope that this event will become a tradition and will be held annually. This time, organizational issues of cooperation between UAF and UPL were discussed, in particular issues of refereeing and the activities of the club accreditation committee, and issues regarding the activities of football justice bodies. It was a constructive conversation.

From the side of the UAF Referees Committee and the UAF Ethics and Fair Play Committee, internal statistics of their activities were demonstrated, and the results of the first year of work in the new composition were summarized. We received wishes and feedback from the clubs. This format of communication is a manifestation of the openness and transparency of UAF’s activities, which was declared as one of the main principles of our team's work.

Once again, we want to thank each club, their leaders, and owners for finding the opportunity during the full-scale invasion to finance these clubs and maintain them. We are fully ready to support this activity and ensure equal proximity to all UPL clubs.”
