Former midfielder of Kyiv’s Dynamo Serhii Mizin assessed the performance of Oleksandr Shovkovskyi’s team in the group stage of the Europa League.

“One victory and a draw over a long distance of the current Europa League is too meager a result for a team of Dynamo’s caliber. The most frustrating thing is that there can be no complaints about a lack of luck or refereeing bias. That’s why, without exaggeration, the Kyiv team has earned its place.
Even considering that competing in the Ukrainian championship has long been a priority for Dinamo players, where they are leading, they still should have earned more points. That did not happen.
In my opinion, the youth underperformed compared to expectations, with whom great hopes were associated. They need to take an example from veteran Andrii Yarmolenko, who always demonstrated maximum determination, and in the match against ‘Galatasaray’ came off the bench, quickly scored a brace, and saved Kyiv from defeat.
What can the Dynamo players hope for after being eliminated from the Europa League on the all-Ukrainian stage? Honestly, I do not understand the passivity of the Kyiv team in the transfer market, as they need to reinforce several positions at once. It would be advisable to invite experienced players. Otherwise, that point reserve may not be enough to win the championship title. And then neglecting the Europa League will turn out to be in vain,” Mizin said.
