Former midfielder of Donetsk Shakhtar, Taras Stepanenko, who currently plays for Turkish Eyüpspor, shared how the war has brought the miners and Kyiv Dynamo closer together.
Taras Stepanenko (photo: uaf.ua)— Everyone knows someone who has died. We have two goalkeepers at Shakhtar. One recently lost his father in battles near my village, the other — a brother.
But this concerns not only Shakhtar. There are players at Kyiv Dynamo whose relatives have died. We are rivals, but only in the sports sense. We have one problem, one and the same enemy.
I feel that we are on the same team for our country. I play for the national team with players from Kyiv Dynamo and I have made friends with some players of my age, — said the 35-year-old midfielder to The National.
