Former coach of Kyiv "Dynamo" Yozhef Sabo expressed his opinion about Ukrainian football players who could play in top leagues, and also shared his expectations for the second part of the Ukrainian championship for the 2024/2025 season.
Yozhef Sabo
— Among those most talked about in the context of transfers to foreign clubs are Volodymyr Brazhko and Mykola Shaparenko. What do you say about Oleksandr Pikhalionok?
— I don’t even know. Speaking of European clubs, that’s a completely different level. They play football differently there. Pikhalionok is a midfielder who doesn’t engage in ball recovery. I don’t see him as a player who can compete in the English league or any other top league in Europe.
— Both "Dynamo" and "Shakhtar" have recently undergone personnel changes, parting ways with leading footballers. Could this be beneficial for any of their main competitors who might chase them in the medal race?
— I don’t think so. The difference of ten points that has emerged after the autumn part of the championship between the Dynamo players and the miners is quite substantial. So I can say that "Dynamo" will be the champion. They will not go anywhere. I have said before: in the Ukrainian championship all teams are equal — be it "Dynamo," "Shakhtar," or "Oleksandriya."
And if we talk about them in terms of player capability, I will repeat: I don’t see such footballers who could go to play in England, France, or elsewhere — and look decent there. No. So far, there are no such footballers.
