If this was the first official match of the new year for the guests, it was not for Igor Kostiuk’s charges. Recall that in Turkey the “white-blues” played a draw with “Atalanta” (3:3), but lost in a penalty shootout and allowed the Italians to advance to the next round of the UEFA Youth League.
The report match started with Dynamo taking a position of strength, and already in the debut of the meeting Ponomarenko and Kremchanyn, during a single attack, failed to outsmart the guests' goalkeeper. Afterwards, there was a lot of struggle on the field overall, both teams paid a lot of attention to ball control, but there was somehow a lack of dangerous moments.
Closer to the middle of the half, the “white-blues” activated themselves. In particular, the goalkeeper of Lviv demonstrated his skill again after a powerful shot from Korobov under the crossbar from outside the penalty area. And in the 37th minute, the score was finally opened: Ponomarenko successfully responded to Redushko's cross and touched it in from close range — 1:0.
Just a few minutes later, the score was doubled. This time Ponomarenko, having intercepted the ball in the center of the field, demonstrated technique, passing five (!) opponents on his way to the goal and guiding the ball past the goalkeeper — 2:0.
The second half began with attacks from the hosts — in particular, Salenko made a good but inaccurate shot, and Redushko did not trouble the goalkeeper with a weak shot. Overall, after the break, the dynamists ceded the ball to their opponents, waiting for their mistakes. Because of this, there were few moments in the game. In particular, the hosts could only recall a scissor kick by Herich and an unsuccessful attempt by Salenko to outsmart the goalkeeper, while near Surkis’s goal, the guests noted only one inaccurate header by Burenko from close range.
In the end, a confident victory for “Dynamo” — 2:0. Igor Kostiuk's charges successfully begin the second part of the championship and showed their determination to fight for the championship.
