Kyiv Dynamo defender Oleksandr Tymchyk shared his impressions of the victory over Lviv’s Karpaty (2:0) in yesterday's match of the 18th round of the Ukrainian championship.
Oleksandr Tymchyk. Photo — Yu. Yurievi— First of all, congratulations on the victory. We beat Karpaty 2:0 in the first round, the same score now. We returned to Kyiv, to our hometown, and immediately won. How pleasant is that?
— Of course, it’s nice to win. We set ourselves up for victory in every game, we want to please our fans. We take it step by step.
— Mykhailenko scored his first goal for Dynamo. Did you congratulate him on that?
— Yes, we congratulated Mykola on the goal. I believe he inspired us. After the score became 1:0, we created many more chances and scored the second goal.
— Today it was minus three degrees — a completely different story compared to what it was in Turkey. How do you readjust to the weather conditions?
— To be honest, the quality of the pitch today was just superb. Even in freezing temperatures, it was soft and not dry. You yourself saw how the ball moved, and it was quite easy to control. Regarding the temperature, the frost wasn’t felt much. The main thing was that there was no wind.
— Today there was news on social media that Oleksandr Tymchyk changed his playing number. It was 24, now it’s 18. What inspired you to change it and what does it mean?
— Nothing inspired me. I think you looked at my statistics. I started with number 18, and also played under number 18 for Zora and Stal. I immediately asked Sanya Andriievskyi when he left if I could take his number. He said, of course I could.
— There are 12 rounds left until the end of the season. How much does being in first place and the advantage over Shakhtar and Oleksandriya weigh on the team, or does it, on the contrary, add confidence?
— Our coaching staff tells us this, and we understand that we need to move step by step, game by game. And at the end of the championship, we’ll see where we will be. We prepare, go in our usual rhythm. We are setting ourselves up, as I said, for victory in every game, and at the end of the season we will see how it goes.
