The Ukrainian Football Association has launched a memorial platform in honor of the heroes of the football community who gave their lives for Ukraine in the war with Russia.
Photo: uaf.uaIn times when Ukraine is fighting for its independence at the highest price, we must preserve the memory of the fallen. The online project tells the stories of those who died defending our country, from the beginning of the Russian invasion in 2014 to the present.
Currently, the memorial platform contains over 300* stories of representatives of the football community: players, coaches, referees, officials, and technical staff of football clubs and teams. This information is regularly updated. You can view it at this link.
“The creation of the memorial is of special importance for all of us, as it is a way to immortalize the memory of those who gave the most valuable thing — their lives — for the future of Ukraine. Their names and stories will forever remain in the heart of Ukrainian football, as they are examples of courage, bravery, and true love for their homeland,” noted UAF President Andriy Shevchenko.
The association seeks for the world to know about our friends and colleagues who, in wartime, exchanged the football field for the front lines. This platform serves as a reminder of the highest contribution of each of them and the unbreakable spirit of Ukrainians.
Eternal glory and memory to the heroes of Ukrainian football!
*We understand that under the conditions of a full-scale war, it is extremely difficult to obtain complete and timely information. Many of our defenders may be missing in action. In such cases, it is impossible to draw final conclusions about their fate without official confirmations. That is why we recognize that the figure provided is unfortunately not final.
