The head coach of «Dynamo U-19» Igor Kostyuk commented on the victory of his team over Poltava’s «Vorskla U-19» (3:0) in yesterday’s match of the youth championship.
Igor Kostyuk (photo: fcdynamo.com)— Overall, what do you say about the game? Despite the large score, it cannot be called easy...
— In the first half, we adapted to the opponent and the field. During the break, we made adjustments and explained to the boys what moments needed improvement, after which we went out and scored three goals. We also had the advantage and could have scored more. Logically, we aimed the game towards victory and completely controlled the events on the field.
— The match of the main squads had to be moved to Kyiv, as the field at the «Vorskla» stadium does not meet safety standards for players. What can you say about the pitch that your team had to play on today?
— In the first half, it was a bit frozen and did not allow us to fully realize the advantage we had. In the second half, it dried out a bit and became of better quality. In the second half, it was easier to play because the ball could be better controlled, as the field was already comfortable for combination play.
— «Vorskla» practically had no chances throughout the match. Can it be said that the game was until the first goal scored?
— First of all, we pressed well and did not allow them to quickly transition to attack. During the opponent's transition from defense to attack, our defenders controlled the opponents well, and the attack group did a good job today, not allowing the opponents to make targeted passes. I can say that everything we train and work on in training worked out, especially in the second half.
— Fedir Zadorozhny, who is currently the top scorer of the U-19 championship, returned to the team from loan. How is he adapting?
— He was absent for only four months and is familiar with all our guys, so it cannot be said that he needs any lengthy adaptation. Of course, at «Zorya», there were different needs, the team plays differently, the training process differs from ours. At «Zorya», he gained experience, playing time, and confidence in his abilities. And upon returning, he already understands what attitude should be towards training and games. I think the time spent on loan has benefited him.
