Today’s day gave the world several famous people who closely connected their lives with football:
Vladimir BessonovVladimir Bessonov (1958) – a legendary football player who played as a midfielder. Most of Bessonov’s playing career was spent at Kyiv’s “Dynamo,” where he became a multiple champion.
In 1988, Bessonov was invited to the Italian “Roma,” but Lobanovsky asked him to stay in the team for two more years. In 1990, after a failure at the World Cup, he went to Israel, playing for “Maccabi” (Haifa). He didn’t stay long at the Israeli club and started the new 1991 season as a double team coach of Kyiv’s “Dynamo.” In early April 2015, he began working at Kyiv’s “Dynamo” as a scout coach.
During the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Vladimir Bessonov joined one of the territorial defense units of Ukraine.
Jens Jeremis (1974) – a former German football player who played as a defensive midfielder. Now Jens Jeremis works as a football agent together with Jurgen Milevski and Tadeusz Solominski, the three of them form a group engaged in talent scouting and assisting them in getting favorable contracts with leading clubs. Jens Jeremis is the founder of a foundation to help underprivileged children and young people.
Vladimir Maslachenko (1936−2010) – a former goalkeeper and commentator. A native of the Dnipropetrovsk region, where he began his playing career with Kryvyi Rih’s “Spartak.” He was considered one of the best goalkeepers of the late 1950s – early 1960s. However, he couldn’t displace the main goalkeeper Lev Yashin from the USSR national team. After finishing his football career, he became one of the best sports commentators. He passed away on November 28, 2010, from heart failure.
