The Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Matviy Bedny, commented on the news of the deprivation of sports titles from Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, Serhiy Karyakin, Kakhi Kaladze, and several other athletes during the telethon “Unified News.”

Today we all understand that what matters is what you do here and now, when your country is waging a war for survival, for independence during the greatest war since World War II, and you cannot hide behind past achievements.
And therefore today, according to the procedure introduced at the Ministry – it concerns both the awarding and deprivation of sports titles – a special commission reviewed this issue, and accordingly, the names you mentioned, which I would not even want to mention, – I signed an order to deprive them of their sports titles.
I believe that this is a fair response from the Ukrainian state to the subversive activities carried out by the named individuals,” – said Bedny.
