The midfielder of Kyiv’s ‘Dynamo U-19’ Pavlo Lyusin shared his impressions after yesterday’s match of the youth championship against Cherkasy’s LNZ (4:0), in which he became the author of the fourth goal, thus scoring his first goal for the youth team.
Pavlo Lyusin— I am very satisfied with our play, the actions of the team. I am also very happy to have scored my debut goal for the youth team. With opponents like LNZ, we need to play more forward. The coach advised us to do just that, overall, he liked our game. Nothing unpredictable happened; we prepared for this match, trained like this, and acted accordingly.
For every game, we need to seriously tune in. Today we could have scored more. We need to gain all possible points to reach the first place and win the championship. The fact that we ensured a confident lead of three goals by the middle of the first half allowed us to play our game, feel more confident and calm. We always need to score in the first half to feel better. Because if it’s a draw at halftime, there’s a little worry that we might lose points, and one can start to feel nervous.
Did I know in advance that I would start? No, nobody knows that. Everyone trains, and those who prepare better play.
— Tell us about your debut goal. How did you manage to score, what were you thinking at that moment?
— I just ran to my place where I needed to be — in the area of the 11-meter mark. David Bilyi understood the moment well, gave me a goal-scoring pass to the empty net, and I realized that moment. The guys warmly congratulated me on my first goal.
— The team plays three matches in one and a half weeks; how do you feel about such a schedule? Do you feel changes in your preparation?
— The schedule is a bit unusual; we rest less. Our training sessions are more game-oriented, with no strength training in the gym so that we have more strength for the games.
Even before the start of our match, we knew that ‘Shakhtar’ dropped points, and we were very happy about that. This served as additional motivation for us. ‘Dynamo’ U19 has come very close in the league table to the ‘miners’, so the battle for the championship is now in full swing. Now we have our next match with ‘Zorya’; we will tune in for another game, just like always, as we do for all other opponents.
