The match predictably started with attacks from "Dynamo": Shovkovsky's charges were eager to redeem themselves for the draw in the last round against "Vorskla." And the strategy of the "white-blues" head coach in the first half worked 100%. The Kyiv team literally "shut down" LNZ in their half of the field.
It was logical that with such a development of events, the Dynamo players managed to open the scoring rather quickly: after a cross from Karavaev from the right flank into the opponent's penalty area, a defender of LNZ interfered with his own goalkeeper and played a pass to free Vyvcharenko, who shot on the fly into the corner of the Cherkasy club's goal—0:1! It is worth noting that after this goal, the visitors did not stop and continued to dictate their terms to the opponents. Yarmolenko, Kabaev, and Vyvcharenko could have doubled their team's advantage, but all their shots were blocked by either LNZ defenders or goalkeeper Kushnyrenko.
Only towards the end of the first half did Neshcheret enter the game for the first time, intercepting an opponent's pass in the "Dynamo" penalty area. It seemed that the Kyiv team would have no problems in this match going forward.
However, immediately after the break, LNZ somehow managed to equalize the score! A simple pass of about 50 meters to Yashary turned into a goal: the "Dynamo" defenders failed to communicate with goalkeeper Neshcheret, who poorly intercepted the ball. As a result—Yashary simply lobbed the ball over Neshcheret—1:1! This goal was an absolute surprise for the "white-blues," who were completely controlling the course of events on the field.
Realizing that the hosts would now play second, Shovkovsky decided to strengthen the attack line by bringing on three fresh players at once. Pykhalyonok and company immediately began creating chances at LNZ's goal, but again Kushnyrenko played wonderfully, making several more saves.
A real drama for the hosts, but joy for "Dynamo" fans, occurred at the very end of the match when Brazhko decided to shoot from a distance—the ball, touching Putrya, flew into LNZ's net! 1:2!
Already in the added time of the second half, an air raid alert was declared across Ukraine, but the main referee allowed to play out those three minutes! As a result,—a super important victory for "Dynamo"!
