The head coach of the national team of Ukraine, Sergiy Rebrov, attended the championship match of Ukraine «Polissya» — «Chornomorets» and answered several questions from the press service of the Zhytomyr club.
Sergiy Rebrov— I want to ask, are you here as the head coach of the national team of Ukraine, or as an invited person who loves football?
— No one invited me, I asked if I could come, they said: “Yes.” Very important matches for the national team, I am reviewing, we have time, so I am looking at the candidates and how they are performing.
— How do you feel about football, how do you feel about the candidates you observed?
— I don’t know if they knew or not, but... I think it’s a very important period right now, the second round, and everything is at stake. I see both teams were geared up for victory, they were trying to do something, I believe that «Polissya» deserved this victory.
— It seems that the list of the national team for the preparation for Belgium will be announced soon, if we take into account how uncertain some positions are, how prepared is this list for you, is it already formed?
— There are a few positions where we are still not 100% decided, but, unfortunately, there are injuries, and unfortunately, there are players who really do not play enough and lack practice, so now we have a few days, there are these tours and after that we will announce the composition of our national team for these two matches.
— The most problematic position, if I understand correctly, is the left winger, or are there other positions like that?
— There are quite a few positions.
— Can you please tell us how satisfied you are, in general, with the form of the national team players, considering that the Ukrainian championship has resumed and not all teams have gained momentum yet?
— We have already played several games, before the national team games we will play two more games, so I am confident that we will gain strength and the players, I see that the intensity of the game is already different now. Four games will have been played, which is already enough to gain form.
— Let’s maybe reveal some kind of secret. Aside from Oleksiy Hutsulyak, what other names can fans expect in your list?
— Everyone can expect, I am very interested to see the young players, there are young players in «Polissya» who are progressing, and I believe that this is very important right now.
— Can you single out anyone among the young players?
— I do not like to single anyone out.
