The former player of the Ukrainian national team Artem Fedetskyi explained why he chose Donetsk’s Shakhtar at that time, rather than Kyiv’s Dynamo.
Artem Fedetskyi— Obviously, everyone cheered for Dynamo in childhood. Everything changed when Rinat Akhmetov took the Donetsk club under his wing. Shakhtar completely changed its direction and became the main rival for the Kyiv club.
When I played, the academy was actively being built, many new things appeared. The Brazilian vector was chosen. Everyone understood that Shakhtar had to show stable results immediately, and not wait a few years. No one expected the youth to grow. This was a key factor for me — how the club developed. Plus my father’s decision, he advised to move there. So I decided to go from Lutsk to Donetsk by such a long road,” Fedetskyi said on the Youtube channel Insider Media Group.
