The head coach of ‘Kryvbas’, Yuriy Vernydub, commented on yet another postponement of the match in the Ukrainian Championship in Kryvyi Rih.
Yuriy Vernydub— Matches in Kryvyi Rih are constantly being suspended, postponed or played later. Perhaps there is a need to find some algorithm that would not disrupt the teams’ plans and would not impose its negative impact on them?
— It is difficult for me to talk about this. Just like it is for the football players. But we are the football club ‘Kryvbas’ (Kryvyi Rih)! You know that fans come to our matches despite the situation in the country. And many were at the stadium on Saturday too. Do you think it was easier for them? No. They also worry about everything that is happening. And we worry, not knowing what will happen next. I only think about making everything work out. How it will be in the future, only time will tell. My job is to train, to prepare for the matches, to go out with the team to the core of the sports facility and to play. Despite the cynical and brutal enemy, who shows savagery by shelling Ukrainian cities and villages. It is very hard for all of us — for the fans and for the football players. But I think that it is even harder for our guys at the front who protect us day and night. And, unfortunately, we need to accept it as it is. As of today, it is so — no more and no less.
— Constant shelling of Kryvyi Rih with rockets and drones leads to a lot of destruction. It is noteworthy that many hotels in the city have been destroyed or seriously damaged by enemy attacks...
— There are indeed no hotels left. All those that were — are now destroyed. Many teams that come to Kryvyi Rih to play with us usually stay in Kropyvnytskyi. The distance between the cities is less than one and a half hours of travel.
— How will ‘Kryvbas’ fill the international break in the championship? Is a friendly match planned?
— No, we do not plan to hold friendlies. We will limit ourselves to a two-sided game. I gave the guys four days off. In particular, our foreign players want to go home for a day or two — and I understand them. Some need one day for the road, while others need one and a half. And after the weekend — back to work. We will prepare for the next scheduled match on March 30, where we will play in Poltava against ‘Vorskla’.
