Former goalkeeper of the national team of Ukraine Yuriy Virt in a conversation with Sport.ua talked about which of our goalkeepers he would prefer in the matches of the playoff round of the football Nations League against the Belgians:
Yuriy Virt— Unfortunately, in recent matches at the club level in the Benfica lineup, Anatoliy Trubin has not been without flaws. Of course, this has somewhat affected his position in the national team. As for Andriy Lunin — he has another problem; he still does not have enough playing practice at Real. This is a minus, although in those matches where he was trusted with the goalkeeping position, particularly in the cup match against Real Sociedad, he did not let down.
— So what would you advise coach Serhiy Rebrov in this situation?
— If it were up to me, I would let Trubin and Lunin play in turns. After all, despite the recent mistakes, Anatoliy remains a high-class goalkeeper, and Andriy still demonstrates considerable composure: the role of Courtois’s backup does not affect his performance in training, and he makes full use of every opportunity to showcase himself. It is not surprising that one of the giants of English football — Manchester United is ready to pay a crazy amount, as far as a goalkeeper is concerned, for Lunin. Therefore, Rebrov should not worry too much: Trubin and Lunin will meet expectations. Especially since we still have reliable Dmytro Riznyk.
— So finally, would you like to try your hand at being an oracle?
— I believe that in Murcia, the Ukrainians will prevail — 2:1. And I will be very upset if everything ends with the signing of a peace agreement.
