Former Manchester United player Roy Keane criticized the performance of England midfielder Phil Foden in the first round match of the qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup against Albania.

"I think he may lack confidence, and he is definitely not in optimal form, his club form is not very good, but we know that Foden is a quality player. But even tonight I was not impressed by his performance. Every time he gets the ball, I look at him and say, 'I do not expect anything from Foden at this moment.' He won't have problems with which position he wants to play because he won't be playing. This is a big problem for him," Keane’s words are quoted by Daily Mail.
