The Dutch PSV announced that one of the players of the first team of the club has been diagnosed with an active form of tuberculosis.

“The player in question feels well under the circumstances. Although the likelihood of further infection is low, the situation is being carefully monitored in accordance with standard protocols.

The treating pulmonologist and PSV medical staff immediately took all necessary measures. An investigation into sources and contacts has been initiated. At present, there are no signs that people who were in close proximity to the infected player have contracted the disease.

PSV supports the player in his recovery and asks to respect his privacy,” the PSV statement particularly mentions.

According to De Telegraaf, the player in question is the former forward of Lviv’s "Karpaty" and Kiev’s "Dynamo" Lucas Perez.

It is also specified that in the case of an active form of tuberculosis, a person must remain in isolation for three to four weeks and undergo a course of antibiotics. This has a serious impact on the person's condition, so after such treatment, the player will have to engage in recovery training for several weeks. Considering this, Perez is unlikely to play this season.

Additionally, Perez moved to PSV just a month ago, signing a contract until the next summer. Since then, the forward has participated in two matches for his new team.
