The winner of the Club World Cup, which will take place from June 14 to July 13 in the USA, will receive approximately 125 million dollars, announced the International Federation of Football (FIFA) in an official communiqué quoted by AFP on Wednesday.
In early March, FIFA allocated approximately one billion dollars for the new tournament format, and now it has determined the distribution of funds among the 32 participating clubs.
A total of 475 million dollars will be distributed based on sporting results, and another 525 million will be guaranteed to all participating teams. Thus, there are prizes for each victory, and the champion of the tournament, who can win a maximum of seven matches, will receive up to 125 million.
European clubs will receive the largest share of the prize pool — from 12.81 to 38.19 million dollars each, depending on sporting and commercial criteria.
Teams from South America will receive 15.21 million dollars for participation, while clubs from North America, the Caribbean, Asia, and Africa will each get 9.55 million. For the sole representative from Oceania, 'Auckland City', 3.58 million dollars is allocated.
— The funding distribution model is the largest for a tournament with a group stage and knockout rounds, — boasted FIFA President Gianni Infantino. — In addition to financial support for clubs, there will be an unprecedented solidarity program aimed at distributing another 250 million dollars for football development worldwide.
