Goalkeeper of Bayern Manuel Neuer returned to training on Monday after recovering from a calf muscle injury just a week before the team’s first quarter-final match against Inter in the Champions League, reports DPA.
Manuel NeuerBayern confirmed that Neuer can again "participate in training," which is considered an important step towards his return to the field.
The 39-year-old Neuer suffered a muscle fiber tear four weeks ago in the match against Bayer in the 1/8 finals of the Champions League. He returned to training two weeks ago, but was forced to take a break due to muscle reaction.
Bayern will play away against Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Friday, and then host Inter on April 8. The team will then face Borussia on April 12 before the return match in Italy.
Neuer's possible return will be good news for Bayern, which will definitely be without defenders Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano, and Hiroki Ito due to injuries. Currently, the team has a 6-point lead over Bayer in the league table.
