The main sensation of this season’s Ukrainian Cup is the first league team “Bukovina” from Chernivtsi, which managed to reach the semifinals of the tournament.
The Bukovina stadium will not be able to host the match of the 1/2 finals of the Ukrainian CupAccording to the regulations of the Ukrainian Cup, “Bukovina” as a representative of the First League in the semifinals will be the hosting team, but it will not be able to hold the match in Chernivtsi for a place in the finals of the tournament.
The matter is that, according to the normative provisions of the same regulations of the Ukrainian Cup, starting from the 1/4 finals, the matches of the tournament can only be held at those stadiums that are approved by the UPL for the current season of the Ukrainian championship. However, an exception was made for Bukovina in the 1/4 finals of the Ukrainian Cup: since the opponent of this team was another representative of the First League (“Viktoria” from Sumy), the organizers allowed the Chernivtsi club to hold the quarterfinal match at its home stadium.
But for the stage of 1/2 finals of the Ukrainian Cup, there can be no talk of any exceptions. Thus, the team from Chernivtsi will conduct its home match of the semifinals of the Ukrainian Cup on neutral ground.
Let us remind you that apart from “Bukovina”, Kyiv’s “Dynamo”, Donetsk’s “Shakhtar”, and Zhytomyr’s “Polissya” have reached the 1/2 finals of the Ukrainian Cup. The draw for this stage of the tournament will take place today, and the semifinal matches will be held on April 23 (base day).
