The famous Belarusian coach Oleg Dulub named a player who perfectly suits Kyiv's Dynamo in terms of playing style.
Boris Krushynskyi (photo: polissyafc.com)— At PFC “Lviv”, your charge was Boris Krushynskyi, who is now a key player for “Polissia”.
— When I just arrived, Krushynskyi played as a left-back. Once during a training session, we needed a neutral player. We set him as a neutral on the position of a defensive midfielder. In the last ten minutes, he played flawlessly. I said: “Borya, why did you previously play as a left center-back? You are a defensive midfielder.” — “The coaches placed me there, but I personally don’t like this position. I am a defensive midfielder.” After that, we trained him to be just that. He has fantastic starting speed. No one has that in the UPL!
However, Krushynskyi had a nose problem; he broke his septum in childhood. He couldn’t breathe through it at all. Our doctor Roman Stepanovych Abramovych looked at him and said: “Surgery is needed.” During the off-season, he had surgery, but still could not breathe. Then the doctor discovered that his braces were incorrectly installed. As soon as new braces were put on, the problem was resolved.
I remember how in 2022 we went to training camps in Turkey. Krushynskyi and Dovhyi played fantastically together. One performed a large volume of work, the other — broke away from the depth. In a friendly match against Dynamo (Batumi), the then-coach of the Ukraine national team Petrakov was present. The Georgian champions had previously defeated all UPL clubs during their training camps, but against Krushynskyi, they couldn’t do anything. Together with Dovhyi, they outplayed the three defensive midfielders of Dynamo (Batumi).
Petrakov saw how Krushynskyi played and asked: “Who is this guy?” — “Krushynskyi” — “I know him. He needs to play a few matches in the UPL, and I will invite him to the national team.” But then a full-scale war happened, and later Petrakov left the national team.
The Krushynskyi who is now at “Polissia” does not reach the level he had in 2022 at the training camps.
— Why?
— It’s hard to say what happened to him when the war started. Krushynskyi had power, he gained muscle, but at the same time, he did not lose speed. Perhaps “Polissia” needs a player like him, who was Oleksii Dovhyi, capable of providing volume and supporting the young partner, being a living example of professional attitude. Or maybe in “Lviv” the training process suited him better, focusing precisely on speed. For example, the Luxembourg national team player Makhamutovych was slow and faced problems during such trainings, while Krushynskyi was like a fish in water.
— Which team would suit Krushynskyi?
— By playing style — “Dynamo” (Kyiv). He needs a team where the training process is focused on speed, not endurance, which would exhaust players like Krushynskyi.
— Can Krushynskyi win the competition at Dynamo against Brazhko?
— They are absolutely different in profiles. Brazhko is a defensive player, while Krushynskyi is attacking. Borys is perfectly suited for Dynamo for European cups in positions of “eight” or “ten”. He can perform well from the depth. And if compared with Buyalskyi, then Vitalii is a much thinner player.
