A working group at UAF is developing a new format for the Ukrainian Cup, reports the Telegram channel “TaToTake”.
According to the source, the probable outlines of the upcoming tournament are as follows:
— in the first stage, the winners of regional cups will face each other — a chance for amateur teams;
— in the 1/32 finals, 12 UPL clubs will join the fight;
— starting from the 1/16 finals, the remaining 4 UPL clubs — participants of European cups — will join;
— winners at all stages of the tournament, as now, will be determined in a single match, no return matches are provided;
— all matches will take place on the fields of teams from lower divisions;
— at all stages of the tournament, a completely blind draw will be used (“Shakhtar” and “Dynamo” can play against each other as early as the 1/16 finals, an amateur team may not face any UPL club until the 1/4 finals, and so on);
— extra time is abolished: after 90 minutes in case of a draw, a penalty shootout will be held immediately.
