Goalkeeper of “Al-Shabab” Georgiy Bushchan recalled the period when he fought for the status of the main goalkeeper of “Dynamo”.
— You had serious competitors in “Dynamo”, but you managed to become first. What was the most difficult thing when you were fighting for the first spot?
— The hardest part was starting off and not messing it up. The first match, we played against “Stal” from Dniprodzerzhynsk, I remember Kuzik scoring on me, we won 4:1. Orest and I studied in the same class at the academy. We had a powerful class — me, Yaremchuk, Burda, Kharatin, Kuzik, Polehenko. Some are even coaching now.
— At that time, when you were still trying to become the main one, your competitors were Koval, Rudko, Boyko. Who among them was the hardest for you to compete with?
— The hardest was probably with Denys, because we worked together for a longer period. We had such mutual affection. Now we communicate very well. Competing with him was the hardest and the most fun, because we didn’t leave each other in peace.
Then, when he left, to be honest, I didn’t feel that competition that I had with him. And here, maybe, I could have done something better.
— And when did you feel like you were definitely the first choice — when Boyko left?
— No, when I got the first number. I always felt like the first number, but I initially didn’t have him on my back.
