On Sunday, April 6, in the match of the 23rd round of the Ukrainian Championship, Kyiv’s Dynamo defeated “Left Bank” with a score of 2:0. — It is related to the fact that I decided to make the first substitutions in the 75th minute of the match.
— Yarmolenko celebrated his goal unusually. What was it a reference to?
— That question is not for me.
— It was heard that you yelled at Mikhavko that you would buy him glasses. What’s wrong with Taras’s vision?
— He does not always see the field correctly. But it was, of course, a joke on my part, during the match emotions are emotions. And seriously, today Taras and some other players made not entirely correct decisions. But, I repeat, it was a joke on my part. And sarcasm. (Smiles).
— How satisfied are you with the implementation of the plan for this game?
— The first thing I want to say is that “Left Bank” won four out of six last matches before meeting with us, and only lost twice. At the same time, the team in those matches showed a very disciplined and organized game. Therefore, we clearly understood that today’s game in the performance of “Left Bank” would also be like that. I was setting the guys up for the fact that the match would not be easy for us, that we would have to make efforts, endure, position ourselves correctly on the field to “rock” the opponent’s team, and do everything to make the opponents lose strength and make mistakes.
But on our part there were many mistakes in decision-making due to technical errors by the players. This added nervousness to our actions and gave confidence to the opponent. We understood that we would have scoring opportunities, and they were, but in those episodes, we needed to manage the ball more effectively.
In general, I can say that matches at the finish of the tournament are always very difficult. Yesterday we watched the matches of “Real”, “Barcelona”, and saw that all teams find it difficult right now. And I told the guys that we are entering a storm, so to speak: there will be a not very easy period now, and every match for us is a final. I was setting the team for that.
