PFL President Oleksandr Kadenko commented on the decision to abandon two groups in the first league.

Oleksandr Kadenko

— By dividing participants into two groups, we reduced travel time for clubs, the number of matches, and slightly eased their financial burden. I believe that at that time and under those circumstances, this championship format justified itself. We consulted with the clubs about whether they were ready to return to the usual format, as it will automatically increase their budgets. After all, the team will have to leave a day before the match, incurring hotel expenses. Ultimately, if under the current division of the first league each team in the championship group played 26 matches per season, and in the relegation group — 28, then returning to the usual format, each club is guaranteed to play 30 matches. And this will again mean higher financial expenses. But most clubs said they were ready for this, — said Kadenko.
