On Friday, April 18, as part of the 25th round of the Ukrainian championship, Kyiv “Dynamo” defeated “Obolon” in the capital derby with a score of 3:0. The match took place in Kyiv at the “Dynamo” stadium named after Valeriy Lobanovskyi. Here is the post-match press conference of the head coach of the “brewers” Sergey Shishenko.

As for the match, I am very pleased with our actions and how we played in the initial segment of the first half. I am also pleased with that segment of the match when the score was already 3:0. We played very intense attacking football, which probably pleased the fans.
Therefore, honestly, this is probably our best match during all my time at “Obolon”.
— Your players fought for every inch of the field. Where does such motivation come from?
— I believe it’s psychology. Today we did not have the same pressure that we had when we faced our direct competitors. We played with a scheme of 5-3-2, understanding that otherwise “Dynamo” would have space. I think you saw how we broke out, how we combined, how we approached the goal. If we had added quality in the realization of those moments we had, then I think “Dynamo” would have been equalizing in this match.
Pressing? It was certainly in our plans, but we applied it based on the situation. If it did not work, we tried to act behind the ball line, closing the space of “Dynamo”, because we knew how well this team plays on counterattacks and how beautifully they use space.
Today it was crucial to close the flanks, and I believe we coped with this task excellently. Moreover, in general, even if not in absolutely all moments, the team executed what we agreed upon.
