The midfielder of Donetsk “Shakhtar” Eghinald commented on the draw (2:2) in yesterday’s match of the 26th round of the Ukrainian championship against Kyiv’s “Dynamo”.
Eghinald— A difficult result to accept. We led 2:0, so it’s always hard when you let such games slip away. If you evaluate only the result, it is, of course, negative for us, as we always set ourselves up only for victory. We fought until the end of the match, but unfortunately, we fell short in some aspects, and therefore we cannot please our fans with a victory today. But it is important to keep our heads held high and continue working hard.
— Can we say that “Shakhtar” did not deserve a drawn result today?
— If we assess how the match unfolded, especially in the first half, then “Shakhtar” really, perhaps, did not deserve such an outcome. However, today’s final result arose due to a combination of mistakes, you could say. In everything else, we played well, but we did not manage to maintain the necessary concentration.
— You earned a penalty and scored a goal. Considering that “Shakhtar” played against a major rival, what does such productive action taste like for you?
— Of course, it is nice to score, especially in such a classic confrontation, but I would be even happier for the team and a victory, which, unfortunately, we could not achieve today. We will continue to work on winning another trophy, which we are still contending for, - I mean the final match of the Cup of Ukraine. Of course, I am glad that I managed to score and earn an important penalty - this definitely boosts my self-confidence. We will keep fighting.
— What response should we expect from “Shakhtar” in the final of the Cup of Ukraine?
— Sure, we will prepare even better, come out with even more energy, and do everything we can to leave the field as the holders of the Cup of Ukraine.
