Today’s date brought to the world several well-known individuals who closely linked their lives to football:
Artem YashkinDomagoj Vida (1989) — former defender of Kyiv’s “Dynamo”, currently playing for AEK. Previously played for “Besiktas”. Before moving to Kyiv, he played for “Osijek”, Bayer Leverkusen, and Zagreb’s “Dynamo”. He has made 98 appearances for the Croatian national team, scoring 4 goals. Two-time champion of Ukraine, winner of the Cup of Ukraine-2014. Champion and cup holder of Croatia.
Artem Yashkin (1975) — former Ukrainian midfielder. Best known for his performances with Kyiv’s “Dynamo”, with which he became a three-time champion of Ukraine and a two-time cup holder. Also played for Odessa’s “Chornomorets”, Kyiv’s “Arsenal”, and many other clubs from Latvia, South Korea, and Vietnam. He made 8 appearances for the Ukrainian national team, without scoring any goals.
Fabio Liverani (1976) — former Italian midfielder of Somali descent. Best known for his performances for “Lazio”, “Fiorentina” and “Palermo”. Liverani’s last club was the Swiss “Lugano”. He made 3 appearances for the Italian national team, without scoring any goals.
Also today, April 29, the All-Ukrainian Football Day is celebrated. It was on this day in 1992 that the first official match of the national Ukrainian national team took place, where our team faced the Hungarian national team (1:3).
