Real Madrid to compete with Atletico for Cristian Romero

Madrid's Real plans to fight with Atletico for the transfer of Tottenham central defender Cristian Romero.

According to The Sun, the new coach of the "royal club," Xabi Alonso, wants the 27-year-old player to become part of his team's new defense. The Spanish specialist hopes that Romero will join Trent Alexander-Arnold in the starting lineup, who is expected to arrive this summer from Liverpool as a free agent.

Real's defeat by Barcelona (3:4) only highlighted the need to strengthen the defense of the "whites." Barcelona scored 16 goals in four matches against Real this season in all competitions.

Earlier, it was reported that Atletico coach Diego Simeone intends to strengthen the team with another Argentine.
