Midfielder of “Epitsentr” Andrii Behenar commented on his team’s early promotion to UPL.
Andrii Behenar— What did “Epitsentr” achieve such a result due to? Do you agree that the key to your team’s success is stability?
— The components of success are discipline, character, and teamwork. We have one for all and all for one. I am happy to be part of this team.
— Epitsentr has won nine matches in a row. How important is it for the team to continue its winning streak in the final rounds of the season?
— Our coach (Serhii Nahorniak, — ed.) is a very good motivator, and he won’t let anyone relax until the end of the season. It is important for us to win every match and please the fans with our game and results. We will do everything possible to continue this streak. There will definitely be no problems with motivation.
— In your opinion, how capable is the current “Epitsentr” of competing in UPL? Is there noticeable progress in the infrastructure?
— During the winter break, we had the opportunity to play friendly matches against UPL opponents. Undoubtedly, these matches were beneficial for our team. We didn’t feel much difference in level, so we should be able to compete on equal terms in the elite division with most opponents. I have been in the team for six years, so I can talk about significant progress in infrastructure. The club is moving in the right direction.
— How would you characterize Serhii Nahorniak in three words? What are the strengths of this specialist?
— First of all, it’s professionalism, discipline, and confidence. Serhii Mykolaiovych has spent his whole life in football. He has achieved a lot in this profession as a player, and now he shows himself as a coach. He is a great psychologist, and this is a very important quality for a coach.
— Surely, debuting in UPL is your dream? Are you already looking forward to your first match in the elite division?
— I am very eager to debut at the highest level. It’s a dream for every footballer. There isn’t much time before the start of the UPL season, so we definitely won’t relax. It’s important to conduct high-quality summer training so we don’t fall behind among the elite.
