President of Kyiv’s "Dynamo" Igor Surkis told about
- Igor Mykhailovych, the re-signing of the contract with Yarmolenko. How difficult were the negotiations?
- These were very simple negotiations, because we talked to Andriy two months ago. I hoped he would continue his career at Kyiv’s "Dynamo" for another year, or maybe even more.
I came to the base today to talk to head coach Oleksandr Shovkovsky to discuss whether the team needs Yarmolenko for the next season, as I cannot decide such issues without the head coach. Shovkovsky said that Yarmolenko is not just necessary, but must stay in the team. He has a great motivation.
I can tell you that Yarmolenko accepted my proposal to continue cooperation with great enthusiasm. Although, he might have helped as well in the position of the club’s sports director. It would have been easier for me. There are problems in scouting, we all understand this. Only professionals should handle this.
We have the task of getting into the Champions League, and we will do everything for that. We will try to strengthen the team. We have very talented youth, but they may not shine immediately. I have already said that currently 95% of the team’s roster are our graduates. Dubinchak, Brazhko, Vanat, Vivcharenko, Mykhailenko, Shaparenko, Popov, Bilovar, Dyachuk. Maybe I forgot someone, let them not be offended. Today, it’s easier to say who is not a graduate of the club.
- How do you assess this season?
- There was a failure in the European cups, but I can honestly say that all efforts were directed at winning the championship of Ukraine. All actions taken throughout this season were agreed with me by Oleksandr Shovkovsky. But I cannot say that we intentionally failed the European cups, no, they are very important to us. The players can showcase themselves there in the best light; this is advertising for them. We should understand that not everyone watches UPL in Europe. And all the guys want to play in Europe. Therefore, this is very important, and we will do everything to perform better in the next season. But the championship was a priority.
As for the Ukrainian Cup, I can only say that the guys did everything to win the trophy. About the penalty shootout - this is a lottery. I cannot have any claims against them.
- Are there negotiations regarding the extension of the contract with Karavaev?
- With Karavaev, today or tomorrow we will make a decision. The ball is on his side; he received an offer for a new contract. All the guys I talked to have extended their contracts: Buyalsky, Yarmolenko. Only Karavaev remains.
- What positions are planned to be strengthened during the summer transfer window?
- We are currently communicating with Oleksandr Volodymyrovych regarding the need for a central defender. We would also like to sign a left midfielder and a forward.
- Is the information regarding an offer for Vanat from "Trabzonspor" true?
- No proposal has been received so far. Neither for Vanat nor for any other player. Perhaps they will come. Then we will consider them; we will sit down at the negotiating table and talk.
Torres? We are counting on him. The head coach Oleksandr Shovkovsky was very interested in this player. We need to prepare him well to benefit "Dynamo".
