The authoritative publication AS dedicated one of its yesterday’s publications, titled “Indispensable,” to the midfielder of Kyiv’s Dynamo Georgy Tsitaishvili, who this season is on loan in Spain, playing for “Granada.” Below is the uncut text for your attention.
Georgy Tsitaishvili (in the center)This season, three coaches have passed through “Granada,” but they all shared one common denominator: Gio Tsitaishvili. The Georgian was a constant player in the starting lineup of the team under all three “Nazarit” coaches this season, with only a few exceptions when he was called up for national team matches (in the Spanish Segunda, where “Granada” plays, there are no breaks for national team matches, - ed.). And he almost always started in the lineup (31 times in 37 matches, - ed.).
Tsitaishvili arrived this summer on loan from Kyiv’s “Dynamo” to make a significant leap in his career. Being a full-fledged player for the national team of Georgia, he joined “Granada” after participating in Euro-2024 with the intention of gaining experience and playing time. However, at 24 years old, he found himself in a strong and stable league for the first time.
After playing in Georgia, Poland, and Ukraine, Gio finally ended up in Spain. As soon as he landed, he already spoke a few words in Spanish and explained why he wanted to come here: “One of my biggest dreams is to play in Spain. I like the project of the club ‘Granada.’ My wife has a house in Spain. My daughter was born here. When ‘Granada’ expressed interest in me, I didn’t hesitate. ‘Granada’ is a club with history. I will give my all to defend its colors.”
In his first season in Spain, Tsitaishvili became indispensable. So far, he has participated in 34 Segunda matches and spent 2457 minutes on the field. Scoring six goals and providing three assists, he has become the third most impactful player on his team, behind only Lucas Boye with ten goals and five assists, and Mirto Uzuni, who, although he has not played since December, remains the top scorer for ‘Granada’ this season with 14 goals and one assist.
Tsitaishvili has convinced everyone. And this is despite the fact that he didn’t play much before. Now he is scoring the best goals of his career. These six goals are more than his previous best of four goals while playing for Georgian “Dynamo-Batumi,” where he appeared in 17 matches that season.
