Yesterday, June 1, the second leg playoff match between “Vorskla” and “Kudrovka” took place, the outcome of which made it clear that after 30 years “Vorskla”, which won the Ukrainian Cup, is leaving the elite division of the Ukrainian championship.
Grigory YarmashFormer defender of the Poltava team, who has almost 150 matches under his belt with “Vorskla,” Grigory Yarmash, exclusively shared his emotions about such a team performance with the website Sport.ua.
“For ‘Vorskla’, this is a failure. But it should be noted that the club did not come to this today. All this has been accumulating for a long time. And yesterday’s result became a strong endpoint to the team and club’s torment.
As for the confrontation with ‘Kudrovka’, these were, so to speak, cup matches, and here the selection of performers, as the games showed, took a back seat. Just the first league team wanted this victory more. They had better mood and motivation. This is just the case when order beats class.
Will ‘Vorskla’ remain on the football map of the country? I would very much like that. This is a big story. The club was among the elite teams of Ukraine for 30 years. Poltava won the Cup and twice became bronze medalists. That’s worth a lot.
Although in our time anything can happen. More famous clubs, such as ‘Dnipro’, ‘Metalist’, have disappeared. However, everyone believes that ‘Vorskla’ will stay afloat. All of Poltava lives with the team, so we can only hope that everything will be fine.”
