The father of Ukrainian footballer “Bayer” Artem Stepanov, Roman Stepanov, spoke about the situation in the Ukrainian U-20 national team and criticized Viktor Vatsko.
Artem Stepanov“The first thing I would like to say. All the rumors about his naturalization were false. To date, no one from the German Football Association has reached out to us. These are all made-up stories from a fishing expert.
This same expert allowed himself to insult my underage son in front of his audience. These are absolutely unacceptable statements from a person who sees the situation only from a side that is advantageous for himself. He claims that he motivates in this way to play for the national team. Insults motivate?!
The matter is different. There is a person in the coaching staff of the U-20 national team who, in the past, took actions aimed at creating obstacles for Artem in the national team (the conflict occurred when Artem had just turned 16). And, unfortunately, he continues to do this in various ways. In my opinion, these are non-playing reasons. Therefore, his arrival to the team is currently impossible.
Younger national teams should be coached by trainers, educators who seek an approach to each young player. They still work with the children. They should teach them to play better, motivate them, not the other way around,” said Roman Stepanov.
