The midfielder of Kyiv’s "Dynamo" and the youth national team of Ukraine, Volodymyr Brazhko, shared his emotions about being sent off in the second round match of the European Championship against Finland ahead of the decisive game against the Netherlands.
Volodymyr Brazhko (photo: uaf.ua)— I’ve probably watched the video about 20 times after the match. The first yellow card— yes, a very silly yellow card, of course, it was deserved and there are no excuses. I shouldn’t have thrown the ball like that— I should have just stepped back and that’s it. That’s also an experience.
And the second yellow card— when I saw that the Finn had beaten one or two players, I knew: there were 30 meters of field behind me. He pushed the ball past me, I initially put my foot out, then took it away. And when I pulled it back— he hit my leg, and the referee decided that it was a second yellow. I didn’t want to foul there, but that’s what the referee decided. It’s my responsibility, my mistake. And, of course, it’s very unpleasant that I won’t play in the decisive match in the group. But I really hope that the guys will come out, show the best version of the team, and we’ll advance further in the playoffs.
The team supported me, we reviewed the moment of the second yellow card together. But what can you do— you have to forget about it, two days have already passed. If we lose, then the Dutch will advance. This is the most important game for us right now, — says Brazhko in words to "Suspilne".
