Yesterday, the first press conference of Gian Piero Gasperini took place as the new head coach of the Italian “Roma.” Among other things, the 67-year-old specialist was asked about the Ukrainian forward of his team, Artem Dovbik.
Gian Piero Gasperini— What do you think about Artem Dovbik and Tammy Abraham? How much can they improve? You have gotten the best out of many central strikers in your career: Diego Milito, Duván Zapata, Gianluca Scamacca, Mateo Retegui...
— All the strikers you mentioned were magnificent players. I don’t think I provided them with anything more than what they already had. If I can take credit for anything, it’s that I maximized what they had.
I believe the fact that many forwards performed well with me is partly explained by how my teams play. We are always among the most productive teams in the league, and sometimes among the top scorers. This is my quality, and I want to replicate it here at “Roma.”
Of course, we will start with the set of players we currently have in the team. Any decisions regarding transfers or opportunities for changes will be made as we go.
