The head coach of Zhytomyr’s “Polissya” Ruslan Rotan commented on his team’s heavy defeat in yesterday’s friendly match against the Slovak DAK (0:3).
Ruslan Rotan“One shouldn’t sprinkle ashes on their head. This is a gathering, and such matches somewhat lead to a unified balance. It’s clear that there is a different level of preparedness and all that. But in the first half, even though we were losing 0:2, I didn’t see a big problem. Yes, we made mistakes in defense, but this can be corrected. The half was normal. The only thing is that in the finishing phase we should have been more aggressive and hungry for goals.
But I really didn’t like the second half at all. First of all, in terms of mood. We shouldn’t react that way if we lose 0:2, 0:3; we should stick to our line, we should at least put in more effort to press and to try to change the score.
I really didn’t like our situation when we were losing 0:2 and it got worse and worse. There was a lot of agony, a lot of wrong decisions. This led to that score. When it was 0:2, we fell apart and completely didn’t believe in victory. This is very bad, and because of that, we will have a conversation with the players.
But this is a valuable match for us. This is primarily in terms of mood, competition. I think that in the next matches we need to become stronger, at least if we learn from this. Everything can be corrected,” — said Rotan in a comment to the “Polissya” press service.
