Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and Madrid’s Real have extended their cooperation agreement, which was set to expire on June 30, 2026.
Thibaut CourtoisAccording to Marca, the contract has been extended for one season and will be valid until the summer of 2027. It does not include additional options, such as the number of matches played or automatic renewal. The agreement is now finalized, and the Belgian will start a new campaign in La Liga with the “whites” on August 19.
Thus, Real continues to adhere to its principles, under which contracts with players over the age of 30 are extended only for one season. Although there was previous information that the goalkeeper could remain at the club until 2028.
Courtois joined Madrid’s Real in August 2018 from London’s Chelsea for €35 million. Last season, the Belgian played in 48 matches, in 15 of which he managed to keep a clean sheet.
