Former goalkeeper of Rivne’s Veres Bohdan Kogut shared his impressions of the new format of the Cup of Ukraine.
Bohdan Kogut— In my opinion, the new format is aimed more at the audience, and that’s very good. Whatever you say, fans love penalty shootouts. Because extra time prolongs the game and is exhausting for the players. The second plus is that 16 amateur teams are allowed into the tournament, and eight of them in the 1/16 will have a chance to meet with teams from the UPL.
Well just imagine, what a celebration it would be for some village or district center when “Dynamo”, “Shakhtar” or “Karpaty” come to visit. It’s a holiday for the whole area. And the fact that the return match is removed will be a plus for UPL teams and primarily for representatives in European cups. Players will conserve their strength for more important matches, — said Bohdan to Ekspres.
