"Shakhtar" sent the monument of Mircea Lucescu to Romania, reports the press service of the Donetsk team.

The "miners" planned to unveil the sculpture initially in Donetsk for the 70th anniversary of the coach, but could not do so due to the occupation of the area. Then, the monument was set to be "settled" at the club’s temporary base in Sviatoshyn, but when it was already brought, Mircea took charge of Kyiv’s Dynamo. The composition spent the next five years covered with a tarpaulin next to one of the training fields.
Lucescu senior will officially turn 80 on July 29. Most likely, the Donetsk team sent the Romanian his monument as a gift for the anniversary.
